The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond...

NIS America announced a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 release for Nihon Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will be released alongside the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch versions, which have been pushed back to January 2026. A Nintendo Switch 2 version of its Limited Edition is available to pre-order from NIS America’s online stores in North America and Europe for $109.99.

The series’ twentieth anniversary title, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon sees Van Arkride, protagonist of Trails through Daybreak and Trails through Daybreak II, return as one of three main protagonists alongside Trails from Cold Steel’s protagonist Rean Schwarzer and Trails in the Sky the 3rd’s Kevin Graham. Its events revolve around the Republic of Calvard’s launch of an Orbal rocket to explore space, while the protagonists are brought together through an invitation from Marduk to cooperate in a high-tech training exercise. The game features an evolution of the combat from the Trails through Daybreak games, including new Shard Command, Awakening, and time-freezing Z.O.C. mechanics. It also includes the Grim Garten, a dungeon that players can take on with their own “dream” party.
