Reactionary Or Anticipatory?

Is EDA meant to react to the needs of the industry, or anticipate its needs and develop ahead of the curve? The balance point may be shifting. The EDA industry is located at an interesting place, where anticipation and reaction come together. Too much of either one is wasteful, but too little leaves the industry having to deal with unwanted problems. We see this happening in several areas today, and the balance is changing for several reasons. We normally expect universities to be 100% anticipatory. There is no point in them working on old problems, unless some change in the industry … Read more

Meta Cracks Down on Sextortion on Instagram: No More Screenshots in DMs

Meta’s Instagram has just unveiled updates focused on safeguarding teens from sextortion scams. Central to these updates is blocking users from screenshotting private media sent in direct messages (DMs). Previously, users could take screenshots of temporary photos or videos, but the sender would be notified. Now, Instagram is taking it further by ensuring you can’t save such content at all, a move aimed at keeping media truly ephemeral. Users who send “view once” or “allow replay” media in DMs can rest assured that the receiver won’t be able to save it to their device. To close loopholes, Instagram has also … Read more

FLUX Image Generation with DigitalOcean

We have talked a lot about the capabilities and potential of Deep Learning Image Generation here on the Paperspace by DigitalOcean Blog. Not only are image generation tools fun and intuitive to use, but they are one of the most widely democratized and distributed AI models available to the public. Really, the only Deep Learning technology with a larger social footprint are Large Language Models. For the last two years, Stable Diffusion, the first publicly distributed and functional image synthesis model, has completely dominated the scene. We have written about competitors like PixArt Alpha/Sigma and done research into others like … Read more

Archetype AI’s Newton Model Decodes Complex Physical Systems

Archetype AI has introduced an AI model called Newton that can grasp physical phenomena without needing humans to provide any training or rules. The model processes raw sensor data to make accurate predictions across various fields, from mechanics to energy systems, by analyzing patterns instead of being given specific equations. Learning Without Help from Humans Newton showcases an unprecedented method of learning physics by analyzing raw sensor inputs. The model can generalize physical principles, like energy transfer or oscillations, from purely observational data, which is something no AI model has done before. Using over half a billion samples from sensors, … Read more
